Eye Examinations
A regular eye examination is important. We welcome people of all ages and it is a good idea to have a child's eye's tested before starting school. The eye examination can detect early signs of eye disease such as cataracts and glaucoma as well as picking up signs of other diseases such as high blood pressure and monitoring diabetes.
We use modern techniques to assess the vision and have a wide range of instruments including Non-contact Tonometer, Henson 6ooo Field Screener, Slit Lamp and have a Digital Fundus Camera.
We also offer free NHS Eye tests for which you may be eligible.
Fundus Camera
This photograph showing the inside of the eye was taken with our Canon CR-DGi Digital Retinal Camera. The camera captures images of your retina, at the back of your eye, and is a quick and painless procedure.
The camera allows an improved inspection of the back of your eye than was previously possible. This imaging service is invaluable, as this will store the pictures on a computer, allowing us to compare images and look for changes with your regular check-ups. Should a referral to a consultant ophthalmologist be required for further opinion we will also be able to send the digital image to them.
Although the NHS eye examination does not cover this special photography, we are pleased to be able to offer this service for a small extra fee.
